Sinopec completes Beijing pipeline

China Petroleum & Chemical Corp. (Sinopec) has completed the construction of an oil products pipeline in Beijing. The structure is a 101.5-kilometer enclosed pipeline for the exclusive use of the city of Beijing and is designed to transport 2.85 million tons of gasoline and diesel fuel per year. The pipeline will be used to supply clean fuel for the Beijing Olympic Games in 2008. The pipeline starts at Beijing Yanshan Petrochemical Co., a Sinopec subsidiary, and runs through five oil depots in the city: Changxindian, Huangcun, Tongzhou, Shunyi and Shahe. The refinery started batch production of petrol and diesel fuel meeting Euro IV emission standards in July. The facility, which can produce more than 3 million tons of petrol and diesel fuel, is Chinas first refinery to produce petroleum products meeting these standards. (July 9, 2007)
