Solvay aims to double sales in India by 2015

Solvay, an international chemical group headquartered in Brussels, is aiming at doubling its sales in India by 2015. The group recently inaugurated its first research, development and technology (RD& T) centre in India at Savli. Its new CEO Jean-Pierre Clamadieu said, “The group has generated €200 million (USUS$250 million$?) of net sales in India and our ambition is to double our sales in the country within the next three years.” He added, “India is emerging as the most attractive market across the globe. As a group we have been active in India since 2000 and already have our presence with seven production sites.” Clamadieu said that new investments in India will be in the form of new plants or acquisitions. From an existing 60 researchers, the centre will employ close to 250 researchers and their focus will be on high-performance polymers, organic chemistry, nano composites and green chemistry.
