Taiwan cuts "China" from names

Taiwan took another step to distance itself from China by removing “China” from the names of two state enterprises.  The name changes follow calls from President Chen Shui-bian’s independence-leaning Democratic Progressive Party to remove references to China in state organizations. Chinese Petroleum said its new name is CPC Corp., Taiwan, while China Shipbuilding said it will be called CSBS Corp., Taiwan. “The name change will help the company develop overseas markets, and reflects 60 years of contributions to economic development in Taiwan,” a statement from the oil company said.
