Taiwan to double percentage of biodiesel blend

Taiwan’s Bureau of Energy (BOE) under the Ministry of Economic Affairs confirmed that the government will double the percentage of biodiesel in diesel fuel for motor vehicles starting in July this year. Wang Yun-ming, deputy chief at the bureau, said the percentage of the biodiesel blend in diesel fuel will go up to 2% from the current 1%. He estimated that the consumption of the biodiesel íX to be coded as B2 biodiesel íX in Taiwan will more than double to 100,000 kiloliters a year from the current annual level of 40,000 kiloliters. Wang assured consumers that the retail price of B2 biodiesel will not be affected by the action set for July. (April 6, 2010)
