Toyota to launch 6 new hybrid models by 2012

Japan’s Toyota Motor Corp. is scheduled to launch six new vehicle models with hybrid engines by the end of 2012, said a company spokesman. A Toyota official in Detroit, Mich., U.S.A., said that the six models would consist of two luxury brand Lexus models and four Toyota models. In addition, Toyota will unveil a fully electric version of its RAV4 sport-utility vehicle at the Los Angeles auto show in November. In China, Guangzhou Toyota Motor, a joint venture established by Guangzhou Automobile Industry Group Co. Ltd. and Toyota, has begun to produce hybrid sedans under the Camry brand, with prices ranging from 319, 800-364, 800 yuan (US$47,652-54,357). The Camry Hybrid is the fifth hybrid model that Toyota has launched in China. (September 15, 2010)
