Luberef announces Samer Al-Hokail as new president and CEO

Saudi Aramco Base Oil Company, also known as Luberef, recently announced a change in its leadership. Eng. Samer Abdulaziz M. Al-Hokail has been appointed as the company’s new president and CEO. He succeeds Eng. Tareq A. Al-Nuaim, who has been reassigned as per a board resolution dated September 5, 2023.

Al-Hokail brings a rich background in leadership, planning, and strategic management within the energy sector. Since joining the Saudi Arabian Oil Company (Saudi Aramco) in 1997, he has held various leadership roles. In 2022, Al-Hokail spearheaded an organisation overseeing the performance of more than 12 international affiliates of Saudi Aramco, with a combined asset value surpassing USD35 billion. Before this, he served as the president and chief executive officer of Saudi Petroleum International in New York, managing Saudi Aramco’s crude sales to North America.

Al-Hokail’s educational background is equally impressive. He earned an MBA from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Sloan School of Management. Additionally, he completed a fellowship in innovation and global leadership. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Arizona State University.

Luberef’s decision to bring Al-Hokail on board underscores the company’s commitment to growth and innovation. As the energy sector continues to evolve, Luberef aims to remain at the forefront, with leaders like Al-Hokail guiding the way.
