Lukoil to begin construction of terminal outside Vienna

Russia’s second-largest oil company, Lukoil, has begun construction of a terminal outside Vienna, Austria. The terminal will make it possible to ship bulk amounts of lubricating oil on the Danube River. Lukoil will also construct a mooring complex and a tank farm. This construction, which is part of a plan to modernise the lubricants plant owned by Lukoil subsidiary LLK-International, is set to begin in February 2015.

Lukoil President Vagit Alekperov, who attended the ceremony dedicated to the construction of the terminal, said, “We are in fact creating an entire complex with a host of technological advantages – optimal logistical capability for delivering and storing base lubricants and finished product and a flexible production process meeting the latest European standards for key consumers.”

Lukoil acquired the lubricant plant from OMV Refining & Marketing GmbH. It produces 35,000 tonnes of product a year.
