MOTECH Africa to distribute Motul lubricants in Zimbabwe

Motul has opened MOTECH Africa to distribute lubricants in Zimbabwe. MOTECH Africa Director Francois Molife said it was essential to set up an alternative lubricant company to cater to the growing number of vehicles in the country.

“There has been an increase in the number of imported cars from Japan. We think we can’t have a market dominated by two players. We are bringing a tried and tested brand that allows people to have longevity in their vehicles and industrial machinery,” he said.

Molife said Castrol and Fuchs were the dominant lubricant suppliers in the country.

MOTECH Africa is the authorised distributor of Motul products in Zimbabwe.

Molife said his company has invested close to a million dollars in the business and was upbeat to open its own branches in Bulawayo, Masvingo and Mutare during the second quarter of next year.

He said at the moment the company seeks to establish a robust presence through stockists across the country.

Motul’s business manager for southern Africa, Steven Lurie, said technical, marketing support as well as development training will be offered to the distributing company.

“As part of our ongoing growth in Africa, especially Southern and East Africa, we are very pleased to now have MOTECH Africa as our distributor in Zimbabwe,” Lurie said.

French Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Laurent Delahousse, said Motul’s presence in Zimbabwe is a sign that French companies have confidence in the Zimbabwean market.

“There are definitely more companies that are interested in investing in Zimbabwe after the business delegation that visited the country two months ago,” said Delahousse.
