Petro-Canada Lubricants launches Environ™ MV R

Petro-Canada Lubricants, a HollyFrontier business, has launched Environ™ MV R, the first hydraulic fluid using ultra-pure severely hydrotreated base oils, to meet the OECD 301B requirements for ready biodegradability. The patent pending design makes Environ MV R the first hydraulic fluid of its kind to meet these requirements, providing longer life and increased value without compromising performance, according to Petro-Canada Lubricants. Environ MV R combines select, ultra-pure, severely hydrotreated base oils with a premium ashless additive system to offer operators all the protection of a premium mobile and industrial hydraulic fluid while also being OECD 301B Readily Biodegradable to help protect sensitive environments. The absence of zinc and other heavy metal-based additives also makes the fluid safer for the environment by minimising the risk of creating long lasting damage to terrestrial and aquatic organisms or  water resources. Environ MV R provides excellent hydrolytic stability, something that is not possible with vegetable oil and synthetic ester-based alternatives, which readily degrade in the presence of water, reducing their service life and risking equipment damage and corrosion. Environ MV R joins the established Environ product line of environmentally friendly hydraulic fluids and is specifically formulated to achieve outstanding performance in the readily biodegradable category, with a longer service life than vegetable oil and unsaturated ester based products. It also has better seal compatibility than vegetable oil and ester based products, and provides the ability to perform over a wide operating temperature range, including maintaining fluidity during prolonged low temperature exposure. “By using Environ MV R, operators don’t need to sacrifice performance to meet environmental standards, and it can enable extended drain intervals, minimise maintenance and maximize savings,” said Tony Weatherill, president, Petro-Canada Lubricants Inc. “To have developed an innovative and environmentally friendly solution, the first of its kind, with the performance benefits of a premium mineral oil-based product is testament to our research and development team.”  “Environ MV R comes with enhanced biodegradability to give customers additional peace of mind,” said Tyrone Jungjohann, category manager – Hydraulic and Off-Highway Transmission Fluids at Petro-Canada Lubricants. “Environ MV R provides an environmentally sound solution, while also offering protection for operators of equipment in the forestry, waste, construction, agriculture, general manufacturing and offshore drilling sectors.” For more information, visit https://lubricants.petro-canada.com/en-ca/brand/environ.

Hyde Energy unveils new automotive lubricant products

Hyde Energy Limited has unveiled a new range of automotive lubricant products as part of the ongoing efforts to further expand its footprint in Nigeria. The Hyde Energy range of lubricants launched at the virtual stakeholders’ forum recently cuts across synthetic, multi-grade and mono-grade oils to industrial oils and greases, and were formulated and blended to the highest standards to meet the needs of consumers across Sub-Saharan Africa. The consumers would use the new brand of Hyde Energy lubricants for their industrial and transport machines including but not limited to petrol and light diesel engines, industrial and heavy-duty diesel engines and special purpose engines. Speaking at the launch, Chief Executive Officer of Hyde Energy, Oladimeji Edwards, said that unveiling the new range of lubricants was in line with, “our vision to enrich customer experience, we commenced operations with a view to ensuring quality and excellence in the products and service delivery we provide to all stakeholders”. Hyde Energy was established in 2012 as an indigenous global petroleum company to meet the growing energy needs of Nigeria and Sub-Saharan Africa. “We have now expanded our portfolio and network to ensure we are providing revolutionary solutions and creating value throughout the oil and petroleum products value chain as we provide energy to keep you going from one day to the next,” Edwards said. Regional Sales Manager and Head of Lubricants of Hyde Energy, Victor Nwakaku, said product and service offerings at Hyde Energy were designed based on the company’s deep understanding of customers and the local operating environment. “At Hyde Energy, we have a strong belief that using the right lubricant is a vital element in auto care. This is why we have devoted our time, expertise and innovation to creating a high quality range of lubricants suitable for all kinds of petrol and diesel automobile engines. “These lubricants are manufactured under the highest quality conditions using materials that meet global standards. We are confident in introducing the newly launched Luminor and Maximus series to the market, because they were conceived as industry solutions which will guarantee optimum engine performance.” The Luminor product range is a passenger car motor oil, while the Maximus product range is a heavy-duty diesel engine oil, which both feature a series of grades and are packaged in one-litre, four-litre, five-litre and 25-litre dark grey, uniquely shaped containers with special safety and tamper-proof features to ensure product quality throughout distribution. The range of Hyde lubricants is carefully formulated to serve numerous benefits including reducing friction and wear, enhancing protection for the machine, keeping temperatures low to reduce the risk of heat-related damage to the machine, improving engine life span, efficiency and reliability culminating in significant cost reduction. The Luminor ZS9 which is at the zenith of the Luminor series was the product in focus at the forum. Being a fully synthetic engine oil with the most advanced protection for all modern engines, the Luminor ZS9 with its extended drain interval, allows the machine to perform effectively for more than 18,000 km.

IOM delivers “Just-in-Time” access to engine oil database

The Institute of Materials’ (IOM) online database provides the lubricant industry with unprecedented access to engine oil data in the marketplace.  Today's on-demand, global business environment has created the need for rapid access to engine oil data. IOM has addressed this need by releasing data throughout the year upon completion of oil collection, testing, and expert review. This new “Just-in-Time” process allows for data to be made available within 60 days from collection, rather than a one-time event. Subscribers will receive regular updates when data is made available throughout the year. The “Just-in-Time” access can now rapidly satisfy decision makers' demands for relevant unbiased technical data without risking the quality of the decision. With access to more than 18,000 engine oils and almost 18 million data points, this data has assisted corporations and companies, large and small, compare crucial competitor properties, auditing blend consistency, monitoring formulation changes and more. The database capabilities provide the subscriber with flexibility and speed in creating, executing, and sharing highly complex reports and analytic applications, with any number and variety of data sources brought into one powerful view.   “Our data quality process will not change maintaining focus on consistent, unbiased, and accurate data,” said Norm Kanar, marketing and sales manager, Institute of Materials, based in Midland, Michigan, U.S.A. “This change in our process was a direct result of customer feedback.  Subscribers spoke and we listened. The new process provides timely, fresh and relevant data throughout the year and eliminates the delays inherent with year-end publication.”   For more information, contact [email protected].
