Global PV Leader Trina Solar Elected as Member of Energy, Sustainability and Climate Task Force at B20 Summit in Indonesia

BEIJING, Nov. 29, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Trina Solar, a leading global PV and smart energy total solution provider, was elected as a member of the Energy, Sustainability, and Climate Task Force at the Business 20 Summit, a two-day major sub-event of the G20 Summit in Bali, Indonesia which concluded on November 14.

Chairman Gao Jifan of Trina Solar, a global photovoltaics leading enterprise committed to smart solar energy solutions for a net-zero future, has called for a global concerted effort in achieving carbon neutrality goals.

He made the above remarks at the summit, with "Advancing innovative, inclusive and collaborative growth" as its theme and energy, sustainability, and climate among the major subjects.

Efforts need to be made in four key areas, said Gao, noting that a vigorous effort is required to develop PV energy, the development of energy storage systems ought to be accelerated, everything possible should be done to develop hydrogen energy and smart grids should be put into place.

"I was keen to engage with global business leaders at the summit and continue to discuss innovation-driven and low-carbon transformation of the energy sector," said Gao, adding that a global consensus has been reached that more need to be done to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, tackle climate change and promote energy transformation. In that process, PV will become the main driving force of energy transformation.

Gao also called for stronger global partnerships on new energy. In particular, countries and companies should make the most of their advantages in technology, resources, markets, talents, and funds to engage in long-term collaboration and work together, thus speeding up the transition to PV-enabled, clean, and low-carbon energy and jointly tackling climate change.

The company has engaged in the B20 Summit since 2015, as well as in related dialogue and negotiations to push for free trade and fair competition in the global PV industry.

During the 11th G20 summit in 2016, Gao proposed that the industry should seek support from the leaders of the G20 member states for clean solar energy with an open letter, and his proposal was supported by the stakeholders. In 2017 Gao called for support to promote the sustained and healthy development of the global solar industry.
