LiveWIRE Brunei won among Responsible SMEs in Asia at the ACES Awards 2017

SINGAPORE, Nov. 4, 2017 /PRNewswire/ — On 26th October 2017, LiveWIRE Brunei received the award for the most Responsible SMEs in Asia at the prestigious Asia Corporate Excellence Sustainability (ACES) Awards 2017 Ceremony showcasing Asia's finest responsible corporate leaders held at the Intercontinental Hotel in Singapore. This enhances LiveWIRE Brunei's roles and continuous contribution to lead the entrepreneurship, prominently active in promoting entrepreneurships and economic, social and commercial infrastructure of the business

LiveWIRE Brunei is part of an international organization operating in over 23 countries worldwide, and is an organization fully sponsored by Brunei Shell Petroleum Company (BSP) Sendirian Berhad. The Shell LiveWIRE being is a Royal Dutch Shell Social Investment programme, which enables young people to start their own business and create employment.

Following the launch in 2001, a total of three programmes – the Bright Ideas, Become A Successful Owner Manager and the LiveWIRE Brunei Business Awards were introduced. More programmes have been added since then to include Leadership Camp, SMEs Promotion, Business Plan Series, Business Network (Alumni), Visioning Workshop, Forum & Dialogue, Brunei Entrepreneurship Education Scheme (BEES) and Energy Programme. The Energy programme, launched in 2015, was to align with the objectives of Shell LiveWIRE 2.0 to increase the number of SMEs it supports via their alumni's in entering the oil and gas sector value chain. Coinciding with the launch was the inaugural Shell LiveWIRE International "Let's Go Trade" programme offering LiveWIRE Brunei-supported enterprises the opportunity to explore some element of innovation via international trade.

The Energy Programme has proven to be a key milestone for LiveWIRE Brunei as it supports the Brunei Government's national vision, Wawasan (Vision) 2035, objective of maximising the economic spin-off from the energy industry through the development of SMEs and the creation of jobs for locals. Since 2001, a total of more than 10,000 have participated in LiveWIRE programmes since 2001.

LiveWIRE Brunei have also been awarded the 'Investment in People' Award during the Asia PACIFIC Entrepreneurship in 2010 and was also an invaluable contributor to nation building by being invited in 2014 to participate at the National Archive Centre, showcasing the chronological history of the impact LiveWIRE has made to the nation's youth since its inception.

Besides the continuous, robust programmes, contributions to lead the national entrepreneurship development with the Brunei government, LiveWIRE remains to focus on the enthusiastic participations of Brunei Youths in the economic diversification.
