TUV Rheinland Korea Energy Efficiency Laboratory recognized for Heat Pump KEYMARK testing

Development will help Asian heat pump makers enter a burgeoningEuropean market which is showing consistent growth

CHANGWON, South Korea, Aug. 30, 2018 /PRNewswire/ — TUV Rheinland Korea's Energy Efficiency Laboratory (EEL), located in Changwon, Gyeongsangnam-do, has won recognition as a testing lab for the Heat Pump KEYMARK. The voluntary quality mark enables manufacturers to market their products in the expanding European market, which is showing consistent growth. KEYMARK recognition for TUV Rheinland Korea's Energy Efficiency Laboratory (EEL) is carried out by DIN CERTCO, which is a certification authority for DIN — the Deutsches Institut für Normung, German Institute of Standardization — as well as a member of TUV Rheinland group.

The development means that TUV Rheinland Korea's EEL is now qualified to provide European KEYMARK testing and certification services to domestic Korean heat pump manufacturers. It is also authorized to evaluate products manufactured in other Asian countries, such as Greater China and Japan.

"In an increasingly decarbonized Europe, heat pump technology is one of the most promising solutions for heating and cooling, and the number of installations is increasing rapidly. The European KEYMARK is important for manufacturers and brands interested in harnessing the potential of this massive market," said Mr. Carsten Lienemann, Representative Director and CEO of TUV Rheinland Korea.

"Working with an independent third-party laboratory like TUV Rheinland Korea simplifies the market entry challenges faced by Asian heat pump manufacturers keen on building their business in Europe. It offers the advantage of quickly and legitimately applying the European KEYMARK and the CE mark to their products, without the complications, costs and delays caused by shipping samples to a European testing laboratory," he said.

In addition to offering KEYMARK testing and certification for heat pumps, TUV Rheinland Korea's EEL is capable of providing energy efficiency compliance and performance testing services according to national and international standards. It is recognized by DAkkS (Deutsche Akkreditierungsstelle) — a German national accreditation body — and registered as an energy efficiency testing laboratory by SASO (Saudi Arabia Standards and Metrology and Quality Organization) and KOLAS (Korea Laboratory Accreditation Scheme).
