Patech showcases low-viscosity esters as the future of EV transmission fluids
At the ALIA/F&L Asia Lubricants Exhibition held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from September 9-11, Eugene Chen, product and business development manager at Patech Fine Chemicals Co., Ltd., highlighted the superior performance of low-viscosity esters in electric vehicle (EV) transmission fluids. As global demand for electric vehicles continues to rise, the need for advanced transmission fluids has intensified. Patech, a Taiwan-based company, has been at the forefront of developing innovative solutions for the lubrication industry since its founding in 2000.
Chen emphasised that low-viscosity esters offer several advantages over traditional hydrocarbon-based fluids, such as better heat transfer, superior lubricity, lower volatility, and higher breakdown voltage. These esters are designed using in-house molecular modelling techniques, ensuring optimal performance in EV transmission fluids and aligning with environmental protection goals due to their biodegradability.
Chen explained that Patech’s low-viscosity esters improve fuel efficiency without compromising lubricity, a common issue with lower viscosity fluids. Testing revealed that these esters outperform polyalphaolefin (PAO) fluids of similar viscosity grades, making them a game-changer for the EV industry.
