Peter Kim is new president of SK Lubricants Americas

Peter Kim has been appointed president of SK Lubricants Americas Inc. effective July 2022.

He succeeds Chris Song, who returned to SK headquarters in Seoul, South Korea. Song will remain a leader within SKโ€™s global base oil marketing team.

Kim relocated from Seoul to Houston, Texas, U.S.A., where SK Lubricants Americas is headquartered. This is his second assignment in the Americas, having held the position of Americas marketing manager from 2016 to 2018.

A graduate of Seoul National University majoring in the Chinese Language and Literature, Kim joined SKโ€™s Base Oil Business Team in January 2003. He was a sales associate for Greater China, as well as providing project development support for SKโ€™s joint venture base oil plant in Indonesia with PT Pertamina.

In January 2008, he joined SKโ€™s Base Oil Business Development Team. In this role, he was involved in negotiating joint venture base oil production plants, the development and procurement of feedstocks, and new product development, including naphthenic base oils, paraffinic-based transformer oils, semi-synthetic and heavy-viscosity poly alpha olefins (PAOs).

In April 2009, he joined the Base Oil Marketing Team, where he worked until December 2015. In January 2016, he was assigned to Houston as senior marketing manager. He moved back to Seoul in January 2019 in the Base Oil Sales & Marketing Office, where he worked until his latest reassignment.
