PetroCanada and Caterpillar to collaborate on lube R&D

Petro-Canada Lubricants has been selected by Caterpillar to collaborate on the lubricant development contract that will support a heavy-duty vehicle efficiency programme sanctioned by the Energy Technologies Institute (ETI). ETI is a public-private partnership between global energy and engineering companies and the UK government.

ETIโ€™s programme involves a range of global industrial groups, and is aimed at accelerating development of next-generation lubricants and innovative driveline technologies for cost-effective, low-carbon transport.

โ€œWe believe itโ€™s important to bring together industry leading experts in order to identify innovative solutions,โ€ says Howard McIntyre, vice president of lubricants at Petro-Canada parent Suncor.

The program focuses on the potential development of unique, next-generation lubricants and an introduction to innovative driveline technologies. Field trials are ongoing.
