Petron Malaysia to embark on aggressive expansion program

Petron Malaysia Refining & Marketing Bhd is embarking on an aggressive expansion program. According to Faridah Ali, Petron Malaysia’s head of retail business, the company plans to launch new products; at the same time, it has opened 13 new service stations so far this year and plans to open another 10 outlets before the year ends, bringing the total number of its retail outlets to 570.

During the recent launch of its new Turbo Diesel Euro 5 fuel in Kuala Lumpur, Ali said that Petron Malaysia plans to build another 20 stations over the next two years.

“Since we entered Malaysia four years ago [after purchasing ExxonMobil’s retail outlets], the company has built the brand from zero to a very reputable brand today and we are confident of growing it further,” Ali said.

Currently, its new Turbo Diesel Euro 5 fuel is available at 14 Petron retail outlets in the Klang Valley and Johor and will expand to 70 by the end of the year.

Petron Malaysia currently has a 15% market share of Malaysia’s fuel market.
