PetroVietnam appoints new general manager
Nguyen Vu Truong Son, deputy general manager, has been appointed general manager of Viet Nam National Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam), following the appointment of Nguyen Quoc Khanh, who held the position, as chairman in January.
PetroVietnam, the state-owned oil and gas company of Vietnam, covers all operations from oil and gas exploration and production to storage, processing, transportation, distribution and services, through its various companies and wholly owned subsidiaries. PetroVietnam is Vietnam’s largest oil producer and second-largest power producer.
Nguyen said he is committed to completing the group’s key tasks by finding solutions in human resources, restructuring, business administration and capital, in addition to investment administration and protecting the country’s sovereignty.
Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Cao Quoc Hung, who announced the appointment, said PetroVietnam should strive to build a human resource management system with timely preferential policies for talented resources. He added that the group should find solutions to complete its restructuring process while improving market research as well as closely control project costs and progress.
The deputy minister asked PetroVietnam to closely co-operate with ministries, sectors and localities to implement petroleum projects effectively.
PetroVietnam also should create favourable conditions for foreign investors to implement oil exploration activities, Hung said.
