Episode 14: China VIb: The most stringent emissions standard is coming in 2023

Over the past couple of decades, China has implemented multiple vehicle emissions regulations. Efforts to curb air pollution have been offset by substantial growth in the vehicle population and urban air quality has suffered as a result. China VIb, the second phase of China VI, is expected to launch in 2023. When China VIb is fully implemented, it will be the most stringent emissions legislation in the world.ย

In this F+L Webcast, Keith Howard, strategic technology manager for Lubrizolโ€™s emission-related activities, discusses the potential impacts of this rigorous emissions standard on fuels and lubricants manufacturers.

Keith is a Chartered Engineer and a Fellow of the UK Institution of Mechanical Engineers.

He has been with Lubrizol for 28 years and was previously a development engineer for a major commercial vehicle manufacturer.

Since joining Lubrizol he has held positions in research and testing, aftertreatment development, engine oils and OEM liaison. He was located in China from 2014 to 2018 and since his return to Hazelwood, UK, he has taken on the role of strategic technology manager.
