E10 sales suspended in Pakistan

The sale of ethanol-blended petrol (E10) has been suspended once again at retail outlets of Pakistan State Oil (PSO) because of product shortage. Supply had terminated by the oil marketing company (OMC) to retail outlets at different places in past weeks, dealers were told. E10 was being sold for Rs62.61 (US$0.74) per liter, which is Rs2.40 (US$0.03) less than the prices of regular gasoline. Official sources at the state-owned OMC said the production of E10 is not financially viable because ethanol prices have gone up in the domestic market. (February 3, 2010)
