GE Aviation to build plant in Ellisville, Miss.

GE Aviation announced that it will be constructing a new manufacturing facility in Ellisville, Miss. The new 300,000 square foot plant will be operational in 2013 and is expected to cost the company US$56 million. The Ellisville plant will manufacture advanced composite components for aircraft engines and systems. GE Aviation currently has a manufacturing facility in Batesville, Miss. David Joyce, president and CEO of GE Aviation said, “We are excited to expand our production capability in Mississippi with the opening of a second plant that will create hundreds of new high-tech jobs this decade for the state. GE has invested more than US$12 billion in the research and development of reliable technology innovation over the past ten years and today’s announcement shows that commitment is paying off.” (July 28, 2011)
