Braemar Seascope expands Singapore operation

London-based global shipbroking company Braemar Seascope Ltd. is undertaking a significant expansion of its Singapore office to take advantage of growing cargo volumes in Asia and the Far East. The first step will be to open a dirty and clean tanker desk in January, adding to the existing offshore and dry operations before developing a sale-and-purchase (S&P) desk. Executive Director Denis Petropoulos says the desk will initially employ four wet brokers headed by tanker-department director Chris Marrin, who previously worked in Singapore for eight years at tanker broker Sea Town. Petropoulos says he plans to expand the desk by recruiting local brokers, depending on demand from local clients. In Asia, Braemar Seascope operates in Mumbai, Shanghai and Beijing.
