Erebus Motorsport, an Australian racing team, has named Spain’s Repsol as its lubricant partner for the 2015 V8 Supercars Championship.
Repsol’s Australian distributor The Automotive Group (TAG) brokered the agreement, which involves Repsol branding on the number 4 and number 9 Mercedes-Benz E63 AMGs and throughout the Erebus garage. Erebus will also use Repsol’s products in its Repsol Tech Centre in Yatala, Queensland, Australia.
Michael Petersen, managing director of TAG, says that Repsol would like the opportunity to strengthen its brand awareness in Australia.
“While Repsol’s motorsport pedigree at an international level is well known, we see it as inevitable that V8 Supercars, being the pinnacle of Australian Motorsport, be chosen as the platform to help strengthen Repsol’s brand exposure locally in Australia and New Zealand,” he said.
Erebus Motorsport CEO Ryan Maddison affirms “Motorsport fans around the world recognise Repsol as a premium brand through its lengthy association with Moto GP and home grown talent over the years so it’s a real coup for Erebus Motorsport to be able to introduce the brand to V8 Supercars.”
Solar Australia is the main title sponsor for the same vehicles on which the Repsol logo will appear.
Repsol is a Spanish integrated energy company with operations in more than 50 countries.
