Sea-Land Chemical turns 50

Sea-Land Chemical Company, an employee-owned distributor of specialty chemicals to the lubricant industry, is celebrating its 50th anniversary. Since its inception in 1964, it has expanded to three continents with an annual revenue of more than USD100 million.

The company started in the midwestern United States, supplying lubricant additives sourced from the sea and land. It eventually expanded to cover all of the United States, as well as Canada, Mexico and Europe.

โ€œEven with the advent of many new technologies, this industry is as much about relationships, knowledge and customer service as it was when we started,โ€ said the companyโ€™s President Joe Clayton, referring to Sea-Landโ€™s position as a supplier and a source of expertise and insight for its business partners.

In June 2011, the company created the subsidiaries Sea-Land Chemical Europe, Ltd. and Sea-Land Chemical Canada, Ltd., designed to serve lube blenders in these regions.

Sea-Land Chemical Company is based in Westlake, Ohio, U.S.A. It produces specialty chemicals for the household, industrial and institutional, coatings and adhesives, rubbers and plastics and lubricant industries. It currently has nine warehouses in North America and two in Europe.
