SI Group announces additions to executive leadership team

SI Group, Inc., a leading global manufacturer of chemical intermediates, specialty resins and solutions based in Schenectady, N.Y., U.S.A., announced two additions to the company’s executive leadership team. The internal promotions support the company’s strategic focus on business excellence.

Christopher Cornille has been named vice president, supply chain services, responsible for global supply chain optimization. Cornille will lead a multi-functional team focused on the global sourcing of raw materials, optimizing the company’s robust network of manufacturing locations, and utilizing innovative technology and systems to maximize efficiencies. His work is anticipated to also expedite the integration of future acquisitions, which are part of the company’s Vision 2020 strategy.

Cornille joined SI Group in 2010 as director of sales for North America. In 2014, he moved into the role of executive director for new business development, where he was responsible for identifying and leading opportunities for acquisitions and other corporate partnerships.

Prior to joining SI Group, Cornille spent more than 20 years at Cabot Corp., where he held several executive positions. He is an advisory board member for Monolith Materials, a start-up chemical company based in California and is a member of the International Executive Resource Group. Cornille holds a bachelor’s degree in biochemistry from Benedictine University in Illinois.

Thomas Masterson has been named vice president and general counsel, responsible for global legal affairs; regulatory affairs; and corporate governance of environmental, health and safety. In addition to continuing to lead the company’s legal department, Masterson will focus on providing central governance and training on the ever-changing global regulatory landscape.

Masterson joined SI Group in 2006 as the company’s first in-house attorney. Since that time, he has successfully led the development of the company’s legal department into a global function, achieving the title of general counsel in 2011. Masterson has extensive international experience, having spent most of his career as company counsel to multinational corporations in the petrochemicals and natural resources industries.

Prior to joining SI Group, he spent five years as counsel to Mitsubishi Corporation in Tokyo advising their Oil & Gas, Mining, and Chemicals business units. He also spent two years as counsel to General Electric’s former Plastics business.

Masterson began his legal career in Texas as an associate in the corporate department of the law firm Baker Botts L.L.P. His areas of practice have included acquisitions and divestitures of public and private companies, international commercial contracts, and international project development. Masterson graduated cum laude from Cornell Law School. He is a member of the State Bars of New York and Texas and has a working knowledge of the Japanese language.

“The global marketplace and regulatory climate are continuously evolving,” said Frank Bozich, president and CEO. “These organizational changes demonstrate our commitment to providing our customers with the resources and integrated supply chain solutions where they need them, when they need them.”

The company’s leadership additions reinforce SI Group’s pursuit of developing solutions that address global megatrends, such as environment, resource scarcity, mobility, and changing demographics. These megatrends serve as guideposts for the company’s Vision 2020 strategy.
