The inaugural ALIA/F&L Asia Lubricants Exhibition, held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from September 9-11, concluded successfully, attracting more than 2,000 visitors from 35 countries. The exhibition was held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC), located in the centre of Malaysia’s capital city next to the iconic PETRONAS Twin Towers. Jointly hosted by the Asian Lubricants Industry Association (ALIA) and leading media and events company, F&L Asia Ltd, this first-of-its-kind event in Southeast Asia brought together industry leaders, experts, and stakeholders to explore the latest trends and product innovations in the lubricants market.
In his introductory address during the opening ceremony, Steve Puckett, OBE, co-founding director of ALIA, highlighted Malaysia’s vital role in advancing the lubricants industry and emphasised Kuala Lumpur’s significance as a business hub in the region. The event featured exhibitors from Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and North America, who showcased cutting-edge low-emission and energy-efficient technologies.
The exhibition enjoyed strong support and engagement from ALIA member companies, comprising the region’s national oil companies, the international majors, a strong contingent of independent enterprises and suppliers.

Alias, vice president of refining, marketing, and trading for PETRONAS Downstream, emphasised that growth of the lubricants market in Asia is inevitable, but it also comes with challenges in the context of the energy transition.
Challenges and opportunities driven by the energy transition and the push for sustainability emerged as key themes throughout the event. During the three-day exhibition, attendees were treated to insightful presentations from exhibitors and industry experts on a wide range of topics, such as high-performance fluids and additives for electrified transmission fluids, new base oil applications, sustainable greases and coolants, advancements in oxidative stability and EV fluid testing, refrigeration lubricant trends, new additive capacities in China and India, and much more.
The event also featured the ALIA 7th Anniversary Dinner at the luxurious Four Seasons Kuala Lumpur on September 9, where Dave Duncan, global product line director at Xinxiang Richful Lube Additive Co. Ltd., offered exclusive insights into industry trends, particularly in the Chinese market.
In addition, ALIA hosted a two-day training course at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, designed to enhance industry expertise in lubrication practices. The course aimed to raise awareness about the importance of proper lubrication and to impart fundamental knowledge on key industry topics.
With strong engagement from exhibitors and attendees during three full days, the 2024 ALIA/F&L Asia Lubricants Exhibition established itself as a crucial platform for product innovation, business networking, knowledge sharing, and promoting sustainability in the global lubricants industry.
