Ergon’s Sustainability Journey

Bonnie Chapman | Vice President – Product Stewardship, Ergon, Inc.

Since our founding 67 years ago, Ergon’s mission has been to meet needs, support families and serve customers. Long before the world’s attention turned to environmental, social and governance (ESG) impacts, Ergon’s culture and values were built around Doing Right with our products, for our planet, by our people and through our principles.

Although ESG has always been a part of Ergon’s DNA, as a privately held company, we had not formalized protocols for collecting data and reporting on ESG efforts. Since establishing a Doing Right launch team in 2020 and a new ESG subcommittee in 2021, we have seen the compilation of reports of how our companies are working together to find innovative ways to impact sustainability. We are focused on cleaner products, supporting and protecting our people and our communities today and for future generations, and ensuring the continued success of our organization upon which so many people around the world depend.

Ergon’s first Doing Right Report, released in November 2021, highlighted the impressive progress we have made so far. We are currently working to establish clear sustainability goals and targets for the future and look forward to sharing that information in our 2022 report. Ergon’s sustainability journey did not begin in 2020, but rather the principles of environmental, social and governance have been a part of the Ergon story for decades and truly represent who Ergon is, the culture we strive to protect and the values that define us.
