Tata Motors ties up with Petronas Lubricants to develop Tata Motors Genuine Oil

Malaysian-based Petronas Lubricants International (PLI) has developed an exclusive range of lubricants for Tata Motors called Tata Motors Genuine Oil (TMGO), India’s largest automaker tweeted.

This is the first tie-up between Tata Motors and Petronas Lubricants International. The lubricant products that will be developed under this agreement will serve Tata’s passenger vehicle range in India.

During the launch, Tata Motors introduced two new lubricants to the Tata Motors Genuine Oil product line: Tata Motors Genuine Oil CH-4 15W-40 for diesel-fuelled cars and Tata Motors Genuine Oil 80EP for gasoline-fuelled cars. Tata Motors said it plans to introduce a total of nine products under the Tata Motors Genuine Oil product line, to be introduced in stages.

“We will continue to provide our customers with the best lubricant technology expertise and support in today’s competitive market place. We are happy to have partnered with Petronas in developing this range for our vehicles,” said Dinesh Bhasin, head, customer support, passenger vehicle business unit, Tata Motors.

According to MP Singh, Petronas Lubricants (India) CEO, PLI is “entering the next wave of growth in line with our aspirations.” He said PLI has recorded a 40% compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) in terms of volume. Its objective is to capture a 5% share of the Indian lubricants market by 2019, he said. He added that “we are confident that the coming together of Tata Motors, a highly respected leader in automotive engineering, together with PLI will help us better our position in this market as a leading provider of premium lubricants.”

The newly launched products will be available through Petronas’ distributor network of more than 3,500 outlets across India.
