Thai Oil appoints new CEO and president

The Board of Directors of Thai Oil Public Company Limited (Thaioil) has appointed a new CEO and president effective 1 September 2019. Wirat Uanarumit started his career with The Shell Company (Thailand), subsequently holding senior positions in leading global investment banks prior to joining the PTT Group in 2005.

He was first appointed as Chief Financial Officer of PTT Group’s flagship refinery, Thai Oil Public Company Limited, before being transferred to oversee the business at IRPC Public Company Limited. He subsequently moved back to PTT as CFO of PTT Public Company Limited in 2014. In 2016, he was appointed chief operating officer, Upstream Petroleum and Gas Business Group.

Wirat received a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Chulalongkorn University, and a Master of Business Administration (Financial Management) from Pennsylvania State University, U.S.A. In addition, he attended the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School, U.S.A. and the Advanced Management Program at INSEAD, France.

Wirat is active in the business community, including as a committee member of the Federation of Thai Industries, chairman of Thai-Malaysian Business Council, a committee member of Thailand Management Association, and an advisor of the Association of Capital Market Academy.
