TOTAL Lubricants’ 2017 motor racing sponsorships expand to include multi-year sponsorship with Paul Miller Racing

HOUSTON, Jan. 26, 2017 /PRNewswire/ — The Lubricants business unit of TOTAL Specialties USA, Inc. (TSUSA) proudly announces its sponsorship of Paul Miller Racing for the 2017 – 2019 International Motor Sports Association (IMSA) WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

TSUSA will be the lead sponsor of the Paul Miller Racing No. 48 TOTAL Lamborghini Huracán GT3 that races in the GTD Daytona (GTD) class with full-season drivers Bryan Sellers and Madison Snow.

“TSUSA is truly excited to expand its IMSA racing sponsorship presence with Paul Miller Racing,” said Christophe Doussoux, Senior Vice President of Lubricants at TOTAL Specialties USA, Inc. “The team’s approach to racing is well-aligned with that of TSUSA. Their history of success on the IMSA racing circuit is impressive by any standards, and there is no better real-life proving ground for our motor oils than the challenging race tracks at which Paul Miller Racing competes.”

This multi-year team sponsorship is a strong complement to the IMSA sponsorship that TSUSA has held for many years. “TOTAL Specialties USA is a longtime partner of IMSA and Paul Miller Racing is a longtime IMSA team, and we are proud that these two successful organizations have joined forces in the WeatherTech Championship,” said David Pettit, IMSA vice president, marketing. “It’s gratifying when a partner expands its presence in our sport.”

A former race and championship-winning driver, Paul Miller has fielded as an owner top sports car racing teams for the last several decades. Paul Miller Racing is currently located in the greater Atlanta area with the team’s administrative headquarters based within the Paul Miller Auto Group network of automobile dealerships in Parsippany, New Jersey.

“We are extremely excited to partner with a company as established as TOTAL Specialties USA,” Miller said. “As long as I have been racing I have always been well aware of TOTAL as a prominent fixture on the worldwide motorsports scene. The Formula 1 presence with their Elf brand in the glory days of the 1970s was legendary. We are delighted to have the chance to race with them and welcome everyone at TOTAL to our team.”

  • The Paul Miller Racing team and drivers ended the 2016 racing season on a high-note, posting five top-four finishes – including one race win at Virginia International Raceway (VIR) and two more podium results – in the year’s final six races.
  • The second-half rally moved Paul Miller Racing to third in the final 2016 IMSA GTD team and driver championship standings, the third year in a row that the No. 48 team and drivers earned a top-three finish in the season championship.
  • With a third-place championship result in 2015 and runner-up honors in 2014, Paul Miller Racing is the only team in the highly-competitive IMSA GTD class to finish in the championship top-three since the class was introduced in 2014.
  • Paul Miller Racing opens the 2017 season next week at the 55th Rolex 24 At Daytona, January 26 – 29 at Daytona International Speedway, where Sellers and Snow will co-drive the No. 48 TOTAL Lamborghini Huracán GT3 with Bryce Miller, Andrea Caldarelli and Dion von Moltke.

Bryce Miller is Paul Miller’s son, an accomplished race car driver in his own right, and the team’s annual endurance race addition for the four-race Tequila Patrón North American Endurance Cup.

Caldarelli is a top Italian sports car racing talent being brought to the team for the first time as a factory Lamborghini driver while von Moltke returns to Paul Miller Racing after last driving the No. 48 in the full 2015 season.

The Rolex 24 opens with a live FOX Network three-hour telecast beginning at 2 p.m. EST on Saturday, January 28, with the Rolex 24 At Daytona green flag scheduled to drop at 2:30 p.m. EST.
