Lubmarine launches EAL certified biodegradable lithium grease

Lubmarine has launched Biomultis EP 0, a high-performance, biodegradable lithium, rudder carrier bearing grease suitable for all vessels including those operating as per the U.S. 2013 Vessel General Permit (VGP). Created following requests from rudder carrier grease pump manufacturers who were seeking a dedicated lubrication solution, Biomultis EP 0 is a certified Environmentally Acceptable Lubricant (EAL).

Designed specifically for extreme-pressure applications operating in wet, corrosive and dusty conditions where an NLGI 0 rudder bearing grease is required, Biomultis EP 0 has been formulated using synthetic base oil, delivering extra performance at low temperatures in addition to anti-rust performance. Its flexibility means it is able to replace a wide range of greases, allowing stock rationalization and simplification of maintenance.

โ€œWe are delighted to be able to launch Biomultis EP 0, which has been designed following consultation and collaboration with rudder carrier grease pump manufacturers and our customers who were seeking a specialist lubricant for these challenging operating environments.โ€ said Anne-Sophie Vaucheret, marine auxiliary lubricants engineer, Lubmarine.

โ€œDeveloped for loss lubrication in areas with very high environmental constraints, Biomultis EP 0 is biodegradable, with low toxicity to aquatic organisms and possesses non-bio accumulative properties. It is approved and certified to EAL โ€“ 2013 Vessel General Permit (VGP) and meets the specifications DIN 51502: KP0K-30 and ISO 6743-9: L-XCDEB 0.โ€
