Brunei curbs smuggling

In order to deal with the smuggling of petrol and diesel, Brunei Darussalam, has set forth additional directives on the sale of fuel in the country. According to the new directives, for every purchase of either gasoline or diesel in containers, the container to be used must meet internationally approved safety standards. Also, the amount purchased, set by the authority for personal consumption, shall not exceed 20 liters and purchases shall be restricted to Brunei Darussalam yellow and red identity cards only. The purchase of fuel for fishing activities shall not exceed 100 liters and is also restricted to Brunei Darussalam identity card holders only. Fishermen should also present their license for fishing gears issued by the Fisheries Department of Brunei Darussalam. Boat owners must also only purchase fuel using fleet cards approved by the authorities. While the purchase of fuel for vessels and boats shall not exceed 100 liters and is restricted to Brunei Darussalam identity card holders only, buyers also need to present the certificate of registration of vessel issued by the Marine Department of Brunei Darussalam.
