TotalEnergies introduces sustainable lubricants for heavy-duty vehicles
TotalEnergies Lubrifiants has expanded its innovative range of eco-friendly lubricants by launching the Rubia EV3R range for heavy-duty vehicles. This follows the successful introduction of Quartz EV3R for light vehicles, further showcasing TotalEnergies’ commitment to sustainability and the circular economy.
The Rubia EV3R range, named for its core philosophy of “Reduce, Reuse, Regenerate,” incorporates re-refined base oils (RRBOs), which account for over 50% of the product’s formulation. The lubricants, available in 15W-40 and 10W-30 grades, deliver the same performance and protection as conventional oils and have received approvals from leading original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). They are packaged in eco-friendly containers made from 50% recycled high-density polyethylene, reflecting a strong commitment to reducing environmental footprints.
Pierre Duhot, senior vice president, Lubricants and Specialties at TotalEnergies, highlighted the significance of the launch. “We are proud to launch the Rubia EV3R range for the heavy-duty segment. TotalEnergies Lubrifiants is dedicated to driving the transformation towards sustainable transport without compromising on performance. This first manufacturer-approved high-performance circular economy lubricants range is a proof of our commitment.”
Strengthening sustainability through Tecoil acquisition
In a move to reinforce its circular economy efforts, TotalEnergies recently acquired Tecoil, a Finnish company specialising in high-end re-refined base oils. This acquisition combines Tecoil’s cutting-edge re-refining processes with TotalEnergies’ expertise in lubricant manufacturing, enabling the production of sustainable, high-performance lubricants that meet growing customer demand.
By using re-refined oils, Rubia EV3R helps customers in the transport and industrial sectors reduce CO2 emissions while maintaining the highest standards of engine protection. This initiative aligns with TotalEnergies’ broader climate strategy to lower carbon emissions from its operations and support global decarbonisation efforts.
Rubia EV3R is now available across Europe, with plans for broader distribution to meet increasing demand for sustainable lubricants worldwide.
