TotalEnergies to sell fuel distribution in Brazil to SIM Distribuidora
TotalEnergies has announced the sale of its fuel distribution activities in Brazil to SIM Distribuidora, a prominent player in the Brazilian fuel sector. The transaction includes approximately 240 filling stations and several storage facilities for petroleum products and ethanol. This move reflects TotalEnergies’ strategy to focus on core regions where it holds significant market share.
SIM Distribuidora is part of Grupo Argenta, which operates more than 500 service stations and is involved in lubricants and aviation services. The acquisition remains subject to approval by relevant regulatory authorities.
Although TotalEnergies is exiting the fuel retail business in Brazil, it will retain its lubricants blending and distribution operations in the country, marking a continued presence in a key market where it has operated for nearly 50 years. The company is also heavily invested in renewable energy in Brazil, with ongoing projects in solar and wind energy.
“This sale is in line with our selective strategy in the retail network business, focusing on areas where we have a strong presence,” said a spokesperson for TotalEnergies.
