Petrol adulteration racket smashed in India

India’s Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has smashed a racket involved in the adulteration of petroleum products being run in different parts of the capital, allegedly in connivance with certain government officials. Four cases have been registered against three individuals and unknown persons. The agency received a tip-off that petroleum products were being stored illegally for the purpose of adulteration of various products. Following an initial verification, the CBI conducted a joint surprise check along with representatives of petroleum companies. The searches were conducted at Geeta Colony, Tikri Kalan village in Nangloi and Viswakarma Colony on Mehrauli-Badarpur Road. At Geeta Colony, the team detected four underground tanks containing light diesel oil, kerosene, high speed diesel and black oil. The alleged unit owner, Praveen Kumar, was booked in that case.
