Dr. Andreas Pungs – Future Vehicle and Powertrain Outlook

Abstract

Due to regulatory requirements in terms of greenhouse gas production, fuel economy and emissions as well as changing consumer expectations, significant changes must be anticipated when considering future vehicle architectures and associated propulsion systems. In addition to that, the market dependence and the corresponding local consumer behavior represents another challenge regarding the design of next generation clean and (fuel) efficient vehicles. This presentation will highlight the challenges associated with that design and development process covering a variety of variables including level of electrification, powertrain architecture options, impact of ADAS/AD, shared mobility but also continuous improvements made in the currently conventional space entailing combustion engine, transmission, and driveline technologies, while focusing on the Asian markets.
