Motiva announces leadership transition with retirement of Bill Spurgeon

Motiva Enterprises LLC marks a significant leadership transition with the retirement of Bill Spurgeon, the executive vice president of Marketing, Sales & Logistics, effective December 1, 2023. Spurgeon concludes his tenure at Motiva, leaving behind a legacy of over 35 years in global retail strategy, fuel sales marketing, and energy operations.

Joining Motiva in 2014 as vice president of Fuel Sales & Marketing, Spurgeon brought his extensive experience from over two decades in various leadership roles at Shell. “Bill Spurgeon has been a remarkable leader and a driving force in the fuels industry,” said Jeff Rinker, president and CEO of Motiva.

“His contributions over the past decade have significantly enhanced Motiva’s standing as a top supplier of quality fuel products and services. His impact on the company will be enduring.”In response to Spurgeon’s retirement, Motiva is undergoing organisational changes to realign its operational and commercial activities.

Travis Capps, previously Motiva’s executive vice president of Optimization & Strategy, has been appointed as the new Executive Vice President of Commercial. This newly formed division will oversee all commercial activities at Motiva.Capps, with nearly 30 years of experience in operations, business, and strategic development, joined Motiva in 2013. He has played a pivotal role in shaping the company’s long-term strategy, including its expansion into the chemicals sector in 2019.Rinker expressed optimism about the future under Capps’ leadership.
