VBASE’s portfolio of base oils now on EU Ecolabel LuSC list
VBASE® Oil Company, based in Pendleton, South Carolina, U.S.A., announced that its entire portfolio of base oils are now listed on the EU Ecolabel Lubricant Substance Classification list (LuSC-list), a list of substances and brands that have been assessed on its biodegradation/bioaccumulation, aquatic toxicity and exclusion lists of substances by a competent body. The assessment is only based on a maximum treat rate allowed in a lubricant.
Based on new Secondary Polyol Ester™ technology, VBASE base oils provide exceptional hydrolytic stability, increased efficiency, and broad compatibility to enable the formulation of high-performance Environmentally Acceptable Lubricants (EALs) for use in a variety of industries. VBASE Oil Company’s base oils and lubricants are biobased, readily biodegradable, non-toxic, and non-bioaccumulating.
Lubricant formulators select LuSC-list approved components for their finished lubricant products in order to be considered environmentally acceptable lubricants and meet the U.S. Vessel General Permit (VGP) and Vessel Incidental Discharge Act (VIDA) requirements.
In addition, all grades of VBASE oils have also achieved USDA BioPreferred status. USDA BioPreferred label certifies the biobased content, which is the portion of a product that comes from a renewable source.
In addition, all VBASE base oils have earned NSF HX-1 certification. NSF HX-1 status means that VBASE base oils are approved as a component in food grade lubricants intended for incidental food contact and for use in and around food processing areas (H1 lubricants).
“With the most recent addition of VBASE base oil grades to the EU Ecolabel LuSC-list, we are announcing our commitment to a VBASE product portfolio that is completely NSF HX-1, USDA BioPreferred, and LuSC list certified,” said Jeff DiMaio, CEO of VBASE Oil Company. “By its very nature, lubrication increases sustainability by increasing efficiency, reducing waste, and lengthening the lifetime of equipment. With our technology, all this can be accomplished using biobased, biodegradable, and non-toxic lubricants. We are proud to provide oils that meet the performance needs of our customers but at the same time, reflect our foundational commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.”
