Jio-bp partners with BluSmart for EV charging stations
Reliance Industries Limited’s fuels and mobility joint venture with bp in India, Jio-bp, announced a partnership with BluSmart, India’s largest all-electric ride-hailing service. The partnership will establish a network of large-scale commercial EV charging stations. Jio-bp will set up these stations for passenger electric vehicles and fleets across India.
BluSmart’s all-electric fleet has disrupted the mobility market by offering reliable, zero-surge, and zero-tailpipe emissions ride-hailing services in Delhi NCR. BluSmart has the largest electric vehicle fleet in India and plans to expand its reach into other cities.
Both companies will work together to develop, operate, and maintain EV charging infrastructure in cities that BluSmart serves. These EV charging stations, which will accommodate a minimum of 30 vehicles per station, will be rolled out in phases in the National Capital Region (NCR).
Jio-bp will lead the development of EV infrastructure in the country. Jio-bp will take advantage of bp’s lessons from the UK through bp Pulse, where they have the largest EV charging network in the country. Jio-bp also plans to use the German Aral brand to bring the most up-to-date EV technology to their consumers, according to Harish C. Mehta, chief executive officer, Jio-bp. “Our partnership with BluSmart is a significant milestone in our vision of offering new age low-carbon emitting, cleaner and more affordable options,” he said.
