Honeywell to invest in new turbocharger facility in China

Honeywell Turbo Technologies announced that it will be investing in a new turbocharger manufacturing facility in Wuhan, China. The new plant is expected to address the fast increase of turbo adoption in China and at the same time supplement the companyโ€™s global manufacturing presence. As more manufacturers embrace turbo charging technology as a means to meet stringent global standards of fuel economy and emissions regulations, Honeywell expects the sale of turbocharged vehicles in China to increase from 4 million in 2011 to 8 million in 2016. “Turbochargers provide the flexibility to reduce engine size in order to increase fuel efficiency โ€“ by as much as 40% — and reduce emissions without sacrificing performance. This new facility will further enhance our ability to bring the best turbo technologies to market as quickly as possible in China and improve our overall global capacity,” said David Paja, Honeywell Turbo Technologies vice president and general manager, China and India. Honey Well Turbo Technologies is the leading turbocharger manufacturer in the world. It is a business unit of Honeywell Transportation Systems. The Wuhan facility will be fully operational by the end of 2012. (January 20, 2012)
