Integrax to upgrade facilities

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia-based Integrax Bhd will spend around RM100 million (US$29 million) over the next 18 months to upgrade facilities at Lumut Maritime Terminal (LMT) and Lekir Bulk Terminal (LBT). Around RM20 million (US$5.84 million) will be pumped into LMT to ensure the efficient transportation of cargo, such as palm oil and biodiesel, to and from the berths through pipelines. The funds will also be used to put in place an additional berth to deal with petroleum products and other bulk liquid cargos. The development is in line with a number of cargo-generating activities coming on-stream within the Lumut Port Industrial Park, which is focused around the export of biodiesel and palm oil derivatives through 2007 and 2008. Around four to five biodiesel companies are setting up shop at the industrial park. (June 30, 2007)
