Low Foaming Emulsifiers for Semi-synthetic Metalworking Fluids
Low Foaming Emulsifiers for Semi-synthetic Metalworking Fluids
Abstract
Two new non-ionic emulsifiers were recently developed by Dow Industrial Solutions (DIS) as one of the main components in semi-synthetic metalworking fluids. Among the extensive array of surfactant products in DIS, these two new emulsifiers are characteristically designed to meet the market requirements of semi-synthetic metalworking fluids with enhanced emulsification stability in hard water, cold and hot aging stability, and low-foaming performance. The water hardness resistance property of the emulsifiers enables metal soap dispersibility in the system and prevents the formation of insoluble metal soap residues. The effective foaming mitigation and defoaming properties of the emulsifiers would not affect lubricating and cooling performance of the metalworking fluids during the application.
