Chevron Oronite to share insights at 2023 JSAE/SAE meeting in Kyoto

Chevron Oronite is set to deliver two key presentations at the 2023 JSAE/SAE Powertrains, Energy, and Lubricants International Meeting. The event, scheduled from August 29 to September 1, will take place at the Kyoto Terrsa in Kyoto, Japan. This year’s theme, “Technical Challenges for a Carbon Neutral Society by 2050,” aims to explore trends and cutting-edge technologies for achieving carbon neutrality.

Hisanori Onouchi, AEO senior formulator at Chevron Oronite, will discuss “Engine Oil Additives Degradation and its Impact on Gasoline Engine Combustion” on Tuesday, August 29 at 5:00 pm. Onouchi’s presentation will delve into Chevron Oronite’s findings on the degradation of zinc dithiophosphates (ZnDTP) and molybdenum dithiocarbamates (MoDTC) during gasoline engine operations and their effects on low-speed pre-ignition performance.

On Wednesday, August 30 at 4:45 pm, Dr. Chung-Hao Kuo, fuels formulator at Chevron Oronite, will present “Effects of Aftermarket Fuel Additives on GDI Injector Performance.” Kuo will highlight the efficacy of nitrogen-based gasoline detergents in reducing injector fouling. He will also introduce a novel formulation by Chevron Oronite aimed at enhancing injector cleanliness in GDI engines, leading to reduced particulate matter emissions.

Chevron Oronite, which is part of energy major Chevron Corp., is headquartered in San Ramon, California, U.S.A., and is a global frontrunner in the development, production, and marketing of fuel and lubricant additives.
