CNPC to increase annual bionergy output capacity

Fu Xingguo, deputy chief engineer of CNPC Petrochemical Research Institute said that CNPC, the parent company of PetroChina, will increase its annual bioenergy output capacity by 1.098 million tons in the 2011-2015 period. The oil giantโ€™s five-year plan predicts that the annual production capacity of fuel ethanol will increase by 933.000 tons and biodiesel’s yearly production capacity is expected to grow by 165,000 tons during the period. Within the next five years, the company will also construct eight key projects pertaining to bioenergy. Fu also said that by 2015, 470,000 tons of fuel ethanol will be imported to meet the increasing demand in southern China. (September 9, 2011)
