Lukoil produces high-quality gasoline at Ukhta refinery

Russian oil major Lukoil is starting to produce gasoline that meets Euro 3 and Euro 4 emission standards at its Ukhta oil refinery, which became possible after the launch of a 1.27 billion ruble (US$42.89 million) isomerization unit, which rearranges molecules into higher-octane branched molecules, Lukoil said in a statement. The new unit has an annual capacity of 120,000 tons. The refinery processes more than 4 million tons of crude oil annually, producing more than 350,000 tons of gasoline and more than 1 million tons of diesel fuel. The Ukhta oil refinery, located in the Komi Republic, began operations in 1934. (September 4, 2009)
