NRI Singapore hires Sandy Gwee as Principal Consultant


Appointment will help drive NRI’s regional expansion and client engagement in Singapore

SINGAPORE, Sept. 1, 2020 /PRNewswire/ — Nomura Research Institute Singapore Pte. Ltd. (NRI Singapore) has hired Sandy Gwee as a Principal Consultant focused on Energy and Smart Cities.

Gwee’s appointment, effective 3 August 2020, is part of NRI’s ongoing strategy to expand its footprint and client base in ASEAN. Her main responsibilities will include advising clients in energy investment and divestment, market and technology assessment, strategy development, feasibility and due-diligence support, as well as deal origination.

Gwee is based in Singapore and reports to Kazauki Ohara, President of NRI Singapore and Head of Consulting. She has close to 20 years of experience in the energy and renewables space in Asia Pacific, holding previous roles in strategy and investment at leading corporations such as Shell and Halliburton. She has also spent many years with major and boutique consulting firms assisting energy players in growth strategy, M&A due-diligence and full-scope of feasibility studies covering commercial/economics, technical and environmental aspects of large capital projects.

Gwee graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Statistics and Political Science. She also holds an MBA in Finance and Management from the Questrom School of Business, Boston University.
