BASF signs license agreement with Setral for PLURASAFE® products
Germany’s BASF has signed a license agreement with Setral Chemie GmbH – Sétral S.à.r.l. related to the production, further development and distribution of selected PLURASAFE® industrial lubricant products. Setral Chemie GmbH is based in Seeshaupt, Germany. Sétral S.à.r.l. Is based in Romanswiller, France.
BASF’s finished lubricants product portfolio for the industrial sector covers a broad range of applications including:
- Industrial gear for wind turbines
- Heavy-duty mining and construction equipments
- Food contacts e.g., H-1 food grade for conveyor belts
- Bevel gear, hypoid and worm gear applications
- Fire-resistant hydraulic oils
- Compressor oils for air and gas compressors, including special applications such as refineries and refrigeration
The BASF portfolio includes PAO and ester-based products marketed under the EMGARD® brand, as well as PAG-based products marketed under the PLURASAFE® brand.
Effective July 1, 2022, Setral has taken over production and marketing of the following BASF industrial lubricants globally:
- PLURASAFE® GL FG
- PLURASAFE® GL PG
- PLURASAFE® GL WI
- PLURASAFE® MP
- PLURASAFE® Quenchant
- PLURASAFE® PE Cable
Setral has been researching, developing and manufacturing special high-performance lubricants and solid lubricants for more than 50 years and distributes them into almost all industries worldwide.
The new arrangement between BASF and Setral will allow customer requirements for these specific products to be addressed “in an even more customized way,” BASF posted on LinkedIn.
Founded in 1969 in Strasbourg, France by Jean-Léon Spehner, Jean-Pierre Lepré and Guy Grospêtre, Karl-Heinz Hensel took over the company in 1985 and led Setral into a dynamic growth phase, by incorporating new production processes and through consistent further development of its product range.
The production and storage facilities of Setral were expanded in the following years. At the same time, research activities intensified in the 1990s. New production facilities and new technologies accompanied the dynamic growth phase in the last decade. The global sales network has been expanded in recent years to ensure global availability.
