ExxonMobil launches new grade of metallocene PAO

ExxonMobil Chemical announced the introduction of an addition to its line of SpectraSyn Elite metallocene polyalphaolefin (mPAO) synthetic base stocks on May 16 at the 71st Annual Meeting of the Society of Tribologists & Lubrication Engineers (STLE) in Las Vegas, Nevada, U.S.A.

Offering excellent film thickness, combined with a unique balance of shear stability versus low temperature performance, SpectraSyn Elite 300 – the industry’s only 300 cSt mPAO – provides formulators even greater flexibility in developing new product formulations.

Compared to other high viscosity base stocks, SpectraSyn Elite 300 provides improved viscosity index, better low-temperature performance, improved shear stability for enhanced durability, and more flexibility in formulating a broader range of ISO VG lubricants.

The new viscosity grade mPAO expand ExxonMobil Chemical’s line of advanced mPAO base stocks, which also includes SpectraSyn Elite 65 and 150 grades.

Well suited for both automotive and industrial applications, SpectraSyn Elite 300 delivers:
– Enhanced elastohydrodynamic (EHL) film thickness, which can help lubricants minimise wear even in extreme environments
– Broader temperature operating range
– Low pour point and good Brookfield viscosity for enhance low-temperature fluidity
