Chevron Oronite breaks ground on Singapore expansion

Chevron Oronite hosted a groundbreaking ceremony at its manufacturing plant in Singapore to mark the beginning of construction on the company’s previously-announced plans to significantly expand the capacity of the Jurong Island facility. The new capacity is scheduled to be in operation during the first half of 2014. Ron Kiskis, president, said that “we have every expectation that the region will continue to experience strong growth for years to come, and we are very committed to supporting our customers’ growth throughout Asia.” The additives produced by the Singapore manufacturing facility plant are used to improve the performance of lubricants used in engines, hydraulic systems and drivelines. Chevron Oronite’s Singapore Plant occupies a 23-hectare site on the Jurong Island petrochemical hub that is a convenient source of feedstock and utilities. It is the largest lubricant additives manufacturing plant in Asia-Pacific. The plant has a private jetty to accommodate vessels of up to 40,000 dead-weight tonnage for bulk imports of raw materials as well as export shipments of finished products. Engineering and design work has been underway for more than a year. In addition to the Jurong Island facility, the company also serves customers in the Asia-Pacific region through a joint venture manufacturing plant in Chennai, India, as well as a large blending and shipping plant in Omaezaki, Japan. Sales offices are maintained throughout the region, including Singapore, Beijing, Tokyo, Seoul and Mumbai. Chevron Oronite Company LLC is an indirect, wholly owned subsidiary of Chevron Corporation, with headquarters in San Ramon, California, U.S.A.
