India’s hydrogen-blend CNG to help reduce vehicular pollution

Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) and Indian Oil Corp. (IOC) have hit upon an ideal blend of 18% hydrogen with CNG (compressed natural gas) in order to produce the least amount of nitrogen oxide and give the highest power to vehicles. This hydrogen-blended CNG (HCNG) is among the latest technology that is being considered for reduction in vehicular pollution. SIAM Director General Dilip Chenoy, said that the kind of engines that would be for running the new blend would be ready by April 2010. (November 24, 2009)
