Indonesia to provide incentives for eco-friendly automobiles

The Indonesian government plans to provide incentives to car manufacturers who produce environmentally friendly vehicles, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati said. “We will support the Indonesian automotive industry in promoting the use of environmentally friendly technology and biofuels,” she said in her opening speech at the 17th Indonesia International Motor Show in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta. She also said she hoped the industry would develop “locally innovated” automotive technology. Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries Chairman Bambang Trusilo said he expected the sector to post an 11% rise in sales in 2010. (July 25, 2009)
